26 June I have managed to lose my blogs from the last few days 😖 oh the wonders of technology!!! SO recapping days 9-10:
DAY 9: After breakfast we continued from Brisbane up the Bruce Highway with lots of trucks, cars, motorbikes and vans of all descriptions. At Gin Gin we paused for coffee and an amble around the town. There did not seem to be any Gin outlets in Gin Gin but we found a great butcher and a couple of great bakeries; not to mention a real live swagman, who ambled down the road. We paused to pay our respects at the war memorial before continuing our journey north. Home for tonight was at the free camp spot at Apple Tree Creek. Our home was among the gum trees, opposite the Flying High Bird Park and next to the local rodeo oval.

DAY 10: The next step of Norm’s itinerary was a shortish leg from Apple Tree Creek to Gladstone. Grey clouds moved in as we drove north, threatening unwanted wet weather. Home for the next few nights is at the Boyne Island Van Park at Tannum Sands, just south of Gladstone.
Rosie’s feet have been red and irritated for some time. Thankfully we managed to make an appointment with the local vet, once we had camp set up. He was a lovely man and prescribed some medication which, will hopefully bring her some relief.

Whilst in town we explored the local beach. The stormy skies gave it a brooding atmospheric look. Along the foreshore behind the shopping centre there are lovely parks and gardens, which would be fabulous to spend time in on a warm sunny day.

DAY 11: This morning (26 June) Rosie and I explored some of the 12 acres of bushland which belong to our van park. There is a boat ramp down to the Boyne River. Muddy banks and Mangroves prevented us from taking a riverside walk. I imagine there would be huge mud crabs living down there.

Looking back to Tannum Sands
… and now we are getting ready to drive into Gladstone to catch up with the Grand and great grand kids. Can’t wait!

It was wonderful to finally catch up with my lovely grandkids and their families. Little Ayla is such a placid baby, and she treated me to her beautiful smile. Parker has grown into a delightful little boy – full of energy, shy and very cute. He loves his little cousin Ayla, and was so gentle with her, even when she reached out and pulled his hair.
