SUNDAY 22 AUGUST 2021
A cloak of mist wrapped the Coomalie landscape this morning. As the sun rose, the world felt like such a different place. Stark dry edges were softened, glimpsed mysteriously through a delicate swirling misty white veil, which turned a golden pink with the rising of the sun.
LINUS UPDATE
Daniel, the Auto Electrician popped in yesterday for a consultation. Linus started at the first attempt. However, after some pottering around under the bonnet his diagnosis was that there is a fault in the chip reader in the ignition key. This is an intermittent problem, sometimes convincing ‘the computer’ to go into anti theft defence mode.(my interpretation)
Consequently, Linus will remain out to pasture in the paddock, and we remain here at beautiful Coomalie, until Daniel can install a new chip.

OUR NUMBERS HAVE INCREASED
Yesterday friends of James and Denise, Julie and Wayne Holt joined the family to stay awhile. We all gathered around the dinner table to share a delicious corned beef feast cooked by Denise and James.

Later in the evening, following apre first course drinkies and chats, we moved on to desert, with the moon illuminating the table in her soft golden light. Rick had whipped up a lovely bowl of fruit salad, yoghurt, cream and custard and I baked a bread & butter pudding.

IT IS HEATING UP
As I write this, the temperature in 36 degrees celsius and there is a warm breeze wafting around me. There isn’t a cloud in the sky. I have resorted to a couple of sessions in the plunge pool, fully clad. Following a dunking I then join Norm and Rosie back here under the annex to cool down as the heat evaporates the water from my sodden clothing. It is wonderfully refreshing.
