SUNDAY 23 OCTOBER 2021
I wanted to send some wine from the Clare Valley up to our Coomalie friends. There are so many wineries to choose from that selecting one left my head spinning. THEN, with Denise in mind, I came across the perfect one: Good Catholic Girl…

We both thoroughly enjoyed our religious experience at the Vestry, and were ready for lunch. Pikes is a favourite of ours. As it was on our way back home it was also a perfect choice to pause and reflect. Along the way we passed many glorious gardens, including this one, full of purple iris and the most eye catching pink poppies .

A lovely friendly hostess greeted us at Pikes and escorted us to a table under the huge gum trees in the outdoor dining area. While Rosie relaxed under the table, we also relaxed over a long lunch and enjoyed our beautiful surroundings, listening to the birdsong in the Pikes vineyard.

No sooner did we arrive home than there was a knock on the van door. One of our neighbours, Sheryle. was there to invite us to join them for scones and tea. WELL when scones are mentioned I am there! The lemonade scone maker extraordinaire was Sheryle, and her lucky husband John joined us as well. Rosie made friends with Teddy, the great big cuddly chocolate brown labrador, who shared a couple of his arthritis biscuits with her. When we returned home, I was amazed to discover that it was past 7pm. That was some arvo tea.
