Day 9 LONGREACH

14 May 2022

We enjoyed our extra day in Longreach, reading, relaxing and planning the next leg. I was thrilled when a family of Brolgas dropped in to say g’day. Along with pelicans they are my most favourite of birds. They are so elegant and regal.

In the evening, we enjoyed a ‘date night’ dining out at the local Birdcage Restaurant in the Birdcage pub.

We shared a small Mediterranean Pizza and a Thai Beef Salad. Leaving the Restaurant after a pleasant meal, we paused to enjoy the nearly full moon and the huge, gloriously clear starlit sky as you can get only out here, away from the light pollution of the cities. I am sure I can remember such skies from my childhood in Sydney, when the milky way was so obvious, and the stars seemed so much brighter.
