MONDAY 6 JULY
Cool Dog
Carlie knows how to keep her cool when the temperature is rising.

Thunderstorm
Yesterday afternoon, like most afternoons here fluffy white and grey cumulus nimbus clouds built up and the air became rapidly still and the heat intensified. The occasional lingering roar of thunder sounded and I assumed that, like the other afternoons when his has happened, all would end in an anticlimax as the clouds disappear and the refreshing afternoon breeze blows in.
Not so this time, the hot sticky humidity built up until finally with a blast of wind, roar of thunder, flash of lightening, and heavy dump of rain the temperature dropped instantly and I relaxed with Coomalie in my arms to enjoy the blissful cool air and watch the light and sound show.

After the Storm
By the time Denise had ‘whipped up’ the most delicious pizzas for dinner, the lightening, thunder and rain had moved away and were replaced by a most magnificent sunset. Finally the deep velvet black of evening wrapped around us.

Morning Mist
This morning dawned misty and hot and humid. Norm and I took Rosie and Coomalie for a walk down the runway and were soon joined by Carlie. There were dozens of Kangaroos and Wallabies grazing beside the tarmac, and the recalcitrant dogs took off in vain chase after a couple of them.

Crown of Thorns
Who would have thought that these beautiful flowers belong to the Crown of Thorn Bush. I guess if you look past the blooms to the stems covered in spikes looking thorns it makes sense.
