DAY 61 KATHERINE NT

Tuesday 5 July 2022

Yesterday was a very emotional day, as we left Coomalie with our dear little fur baby, “Coomalie’ on board. She was such a good little girl, given that this was such a new experience for her – her first big drive, first time away from her home at Coomalie, and all the sights, sound and smells of being ‘on the road.’ We paused at Maysies at Pine Creek for an early lunch, and arrived at our new ‘home’ at the Katherine Riverview Caravan Park in the early afternoon. Once we had set up camp, Norm and I popped into town to visit our favourite butcher and stock up with delicious treats for the next week or so. For dinner we could not resist the Chicken Breast Roast with Macadamia and Camenbert stuffing.

It was freezing (almost) this morning when I took the two girls for a walk down to the hot springs. Little Coomalie was pleased to don the cozy coat that Denise had made for her when we returned to the van.

Our priority today was to revisit Tony’s memorial and carry out some final renovations before we have to leave it to the elements for some time.
