On Sunday we farewelled beautiful Jericho and continued down to the Gemfields and back to Anakie where we had enjoyed a camp last year. Since the washing basket was almost full we booked in for 2 nights so I could catch up with the domestic chores We were directed to about the best camp in the whole park, down near the lake that is home to a variety of ducks and one very elegant pelican. We explored all around this interesting location last trip, and were more in the mood just to linger around camp and enjoy our environment. It was hilarious watching Coomalie encounter her first Pelican.

Yesterday was a wonderfully picturesque drive, first of all via the Gregory Highway through the very eye-catching Minerva Hills.

With Injune in our sights for camp that evening, we continued down the Carnarvon Highway through more spectacular landscapes between the Carnarvon National Park to the left and Expedition National Park on the right. At one point we were required to pause awhile to allow a particularly wide load to navigate its way past us. I wonder how they managed to get through the sandstone gap with out gouging it wider.

By the time we pulled into the Inune Possom Park Race Club, the only sites left were unpowered. Coomalie and Rosie enjoyed a big run around before we settled down inside as the wind blew up and temperatures dropped.

Rain had been forecast for the next couple of days, so today we moved down to Roma and booked onto a concrete slab (the last one!!). Sure enough this afternoon the dark clouds rolled over and it is now raining.
