2021

Since our last Ambles of any length ended with the first COVID restrictions back in March 2020 we have been desperate to get back out there into the wide open spaces. Finally, as soon as we have had both ‘COVID’ jabs we can load up the ‘Bellagio”, hook her up to Linus and ‘Hit the Road Again…’ You are most welcome to come along with us for the ride down roads less travelled, around our wonderful country, visiting small towns less visited, meeting the most delightful people along the way and discover the special magic that our amazing country has on offer.
2022
Almost half the year has slipped past already! Our home patch has changed in so many ways. We have just received our fourth ‘COVID jabs’; the restrictions of the last couple of years have finally almost all been lifted. The local cafes, restaurants and other businesses that have found it tough during ‘COVID’ are starting to look more vibrant again.
We arrived home from our 2021 Ambles to the most beautiful emerald green Southern Highlands that we have seen for several years. I could almost imagine tigers in the tropical jungle/lawn in our back yard. Of course that was because the weather has been the wettest for many years, thanks apparently to La Nina. The rains have continued on and off since then, bringing floods to many areas. Many of our local roads seem to have more pot holes than tarmac at the moment! The fungi that thrives in these conditions have put on a most splendid display, including an addition to my pet wooden duck’s bootlaces. The local frogs have croaked their delight in regular evening concerts. There is such an incrdible variety of beautiful birds that drop into our garden for nectar, seeds or delicious fat worms. They delight me with their harmonic tunes and sharp interludes.

Just as I am writing this, there is the most amazingly eyecatching rainbow arching over the sky. Luckily I managed to finish mowing the lawns just before this latest shower arrived.

It is now only two sleeps to go before we plan to hook up the Caravan, and head north to Coomalie. Watch my blog space for updates.
